CLI command reference

Every agentx command and flag, grouped by the first word of the command. The list comes from the command definitions in the source, so it matches this version of the docs. For the jobs you do most often, start with the shorter CLI reference.

How to read it:

  • Words in angle brackets, such as <id>, are values you must give. Words in square brackets, such as [id], are optional.
  • Default is the value used when you leave the flag out. A dash means the flag is off, or has no value, unless you give it. required means the command refuses to run without it.
  • Commands marked advanced are hidden from agentx --help but work the same way.
  • -c, --config <path> points a command at an agentx.json in another folder. Without it, commands read agentx.json in the current folder.

Your installed version may differ. agentx <command> --help always shows the flags of the version you have.

Check it worked

  1. Terminal: run agentx --version. It prints the installed version.
  2. Terminal: run agentx <command> --help for a command on this page, for example agentx daemon logs --help. The flags it lists match the table above.

If something is wrong

  • unknown option: your installed version is older or newer than these docs. Use the flags that agentx <command> --help shows.
  • unknown command: check the spelling and the command group. Advanced commands don't appear in agentx --help, but they still run.
  • error: required option … not specified: the flag is marked required above. Add it and run the command again.
  • A command can't find your agents or settings: run it from the folder that holds agentx.json, or pass --config <path> where the command offers it.
